P.S. If you want to play in a browser, best use Chrome. And make sure, that you have hardware acceleration enabled. Firefox will make everything really slow and ugly. And I've heard, that Mac-Browsers don't support it at all. But who cares, only faggots use macs.
You can verify the downloaded files by comparing the hashes of the files. The hash-file is signed with my GPG-key.
If you want to build the project from it's sources, you need the Godot-Engine, where you can import the extracted source like a normal project. If you want to make changes to the code, feel free, but I expect you to let the final page intact, which leads people to the project's homepage and asks them to share it out. If your changes are good, let me know, then I'll merge them in.
